Chantal Kagarama is an Interdisciplinary Artist based in Saint Louis, Missouri, whose work centers their experience as a second-generation Congolese, Rwandan, and Nigerian-American and branches toward processing and appreciating various elements surrounding the world while standing in solidarity and highlighting the beauty amongst intersecting marginalized communities. An abstract surrealist perspective is utilized in highlighting the surreal experiences that come with experiencing Blackness and all the beauty that resides within it. Embracing experimentation throughout the creative process without the bounds of confinement acutely shapes the scope of their work. Exploration of artistic liberties while breaking the bounds of acquiescence and seeking comfort within any means of expression curates the intention behind their artistry.
